If there is one thing that I’m proud, it’s being the kagay-anon and mindanaoan. For one, I have spent all my life here in Cagayan de Oro City. But what I really love about being in Mindanao is the rich culture that we have preserved, the exciting adventure experiences, the majestic tourist spots, and of course, the friendliness of the Mindanaoans.

I am so glad that Globe is recognizing Mindanao as a wonderful place to be. With it’s advocacy #WonderfulMindaNOW, Mindanao is being showcased as something that is beyond its negative impressions.  Mindanao is not about crimes and wars. It’s about a wonderful island that is gifted with “beauty and madness”.

To celebrate this advocacy, Globe is doing a very simple contest for everybody who are proud to be in Mindanao. It’s a MEET and GREET with no less than Philippine Pop Princess, Sarah Geronimo. Mechanics are as follows:

Winners will be announced at #WonderfulMindaNOW Facebook Page on August 6 and will be notified through Twitter or Instagram direct message by @enjoyglobe.

Fil Us Up at FIL ME UP!

March 11, 2012 Leave a comment

If you were able to visit this blog on its first few ‘opening’ days last August 2010, you will know that one of my earliest post was about my favorite restaurant here in Cagayan de Oro. Not only it’s my favorite, going there has also become my addiction. Yes, there came to a point when I visit the resto on a monthly basis, even if I don’t have a company with me. I’m talking about the resto which gives the ultimate local appeTHAIzing experience,  the THAI ME UP

As written on my first blogpost about it, THAI ME UP became my must-visit dining places here in CDOC for the following reasons:

1. Ambience. Who would not love to stay on a very cozy and relaxing environment?

2. Food. I came to love Thai Food because of ’em.

3. Music. Most importantly, I go there because of the bossa nova/jazz they’re playing. Yes, there’s LIVE BOSSA! at Thai Me Up.

Until now, it’s still my favorite restaurant. Definitely.

Why am I writing about ’em again?

Because there’s something new at THAI ME UP! If we were THAId Up, then they will also FIL US UP! Ooohh… Yes.

Yesterday (March 10, 2012), we, the CDOBloggers, were invited to the grand opening of FIL ME UP, a haven for Filipino food lovers!

Basically, if THAI ME UP offers thai food, FIL ME UP offers delicious FILIPINO FOOD. Who doesn’t like Humba? Okoy? Crispy Pata? Lumpia? If you’re a sucker for these delightful delicacies, you will surely enjoy all these at FIL ME UP. Plus, they have the Seafood Special wherein a variety of sea food are in one platter.  We were also able to taste their Fried Fish Fillet, Pork Spareribs, Spring Rolls, and Crispy Kangkong which I all love.

On the other hand, they also renovated their venue, adding Filipino touches on their interior design. When you get inside the place, you will see a lot of vintage objects in the Phil. So Filipino!

Two cuisines. One Destination. How cool is that? And if you’re a food adventurer, you may try combining the dishes also.

Thai + Filipino = Perfection! Always appetizing!

There is something to look forward to at THAI ME UP and FIL ME UP! I’ll definitely try all their Filipino dishes just like on their Thai cuisines. Excited for my next visit! Wanna come? Tara!

For queries and more info, call them at 738424 or visit their place at Capistrano St., Cagayan de Oro City.

FIL ME UP!

If you have read my previous blogs under ‘FOOD TRIP’ category, you will know that one of my favorite restos here in CDOC is the THAI ME UP! I love the ambience, the bossa nova music, the staff, and most importantly, the food!

Now, there’s something new there! The opening of FIL ME UP! They are now offering filipino cuisines to all filipino food lovers!

…And it’s their GRAND OPENING tomorrow!

… and the CDOBloggers will be there!

Let’s see if I would love their Filipino offerings as much as I love their Thai cuisines.

See you!

Thank you FIL ME UP/ THAI ME UP and Chiq Montes for the invitation.

CDOBloggers 2012 Induction of New Officers

February 27, 2012 2 comments

A long journey will always begin with a single step.

True enough. This year, I am going to have a long journey with the CDOBloggers. The first step? The activity yesterday.

Yesterday, we had our first monthly meet-up/get-together for this year and it was also the induction of the new set of officers. Guess what? They made me the Vice-President (External) for the group! And until now, yes, I am still overwhelmed by the opportunity.

Anyway, so this is what happened yesterday. We started off with the “getting-to-know-you” activity and the videoke session.

Then, a mini-program was conducted. The new President gave his talk about the CDOBloggers. (We were so serious listening to his ‘speech’. hehe)

The induction, oath-taking, and signing of the Memorandum of Agreement came after.

…and then the ‘physical’, ‘nerve-wracking’ game which made us laugh so loud. Thanks Vic for this game! hehehe.

…and who would forget the camera whoring session???!!!

Looking forward to a meaningful and fruitful year ahead with these blogging peeps. It will definitely be a busy year for me!

See you all in the next monthly meet-up!!! We hope to meet more bloggers of CDO! 🙂

Cheers CDOBloggers 2012!

(From left to right: Eleanor Aguilar (PRO), Bang Agbon (Auditor), Rob Bana (Treasurer), Vic Madriaga (President),

Venus Mabale (Vice President-Internal), Roxanne Hambre – that’s me! (Vice President-External), Jacques Agbon (Secretary)

Here is the plan of activities for 2012:

Hey oh! Hey oh! There’s something new at PIZZA DE ORO! 🙂

Pizza de Oro is one of the famous pizza places in town because of their WHITE PIZZA. They are the only ones offering this unique kind of pizza having crispy crust and yummy fillings. Available in different flavors, customers will surely love their home-made pizzas!

The following are my favorites in PIZZA DE ORO. I would definitely recommend them. Go try!

Supreme Overload

De Oro Overload

Hawaiian Ham and Cheese

Since its humble beginnings, Pizza De Oro continues to improve as they address the needs of their customers. They recently transferred to a more bigger and accessible area in the city. Not only that, it has also become a must-visit place in Cagayan de Oro as they already have the ACOUSTIC NIGHTS wherein customers will be serenaded by acoustic renditions while having fun with their pizzas and booze.

PIZZA DE ORO is indeed no longer an ordinary pizza house. It’s a perfect place to chill and bond with friends! You might be able to get a chance to sing-out too! 🙂 Plus, PIZZA DE ORO is coming up with new ideas! What’s that? It will be a surprise you will surely enjoy!
