TITA FANNIES Liempo and Chicken Haus recently launched their new products: The TFC (Tender Fried Chicken) and the Halo-halo sa Buko. Overall, the chicken was tasty, crunchy, savory, and big in size. The Halo-halo is sweet, full of ingredients, and basically, delicious. Just perfect for the summer! :)

If you were able to visit this blog on its first few ‘opening’ days last August 2010, you will know that one of my earliest post was about my favorite restaurant here in Cagayan de Oro. Not only it’s my favorite, going there has also become my addiction. Yes, there came to a point when I visit the resto on a monthly basis, even if I don’t have a company with me. I’m talking about the resto which gives the ultimate local appeTHAIzing experience, the THAI ME UP!
As written on my first blogpost about it, THAI ME UP became my must-visit dining places here in CDOC for the following reasons:
1. Ambience. Who would not love to stay on a very cozy and relaxing environment?
2. Food. I came to love Thai Food because of ‘em.
3. Music. Most importantly, I go there because of the bossa nova/jazz they’re playing. Yes, there’s LIVE BOSSA! at Thai Me Up.
Until now, it’s still my favorite restaurant. Definitely.
Why am I writing about ‘em again?
Because there’s something new at THAI ME UP! If we were THAId Up, then they will also FIL US UP! Ooohh… Yes.
Yesterday (March 10, 2012), we, the CDOBloggers, were invited to the grand opening of FIL ME UP, a haven for Filipino food lovers!
Basically, if THAI ME UP offers thai food, FIL ME UP offers delicious FILIPINO FOOD. Who doesn’t like Humba? Okoy? Crispy Pata? Lumpia? If you’re a sucker for these delightful delicacies, you will surely enjoy all these at FIL ME UP. Plus, they have the Seafood Special wherein a variety of sea food are in one platter. We were also able to taste their Fried Fish Fillet, Pork Spareribs, Spring Rolls, and Crispy Kangkong which I all love.
On the other hand, they also renovated their venue, adding Filipino touches on their interior design. When you get inside the place, you will see a lot of vintage objects in the Phil. So Filipino!
Two cuisines. One Destination. How cool is that? And if you’re a food adventurer, you may try combining the dishes also.
Thai + Filipino = Perfection! Always appetizing!
There is something to look forward to at THAI ME UP and FIL ME UP! I’ll definitely try all their Filipino dishes just like on their Thai cuisines. Excited for my next visit! Wanna come? Tara!

We, the CDOBloggers, were invited again by the Culinary Institute of Cagayan de Oro to cover for one of their yearly events. Yesterday, February 19, 2012, was their Open House which includes the “My Favorite Cakes” cooking demo of celebrity Chef Hasset Go.
Just like what happened in the “All The Bars” workshop we attended last year, Chef Hasset taught all of the participants how to bake some of the best-selling cakes they have.
We also learned some terms and techniques in baking to produce quality and delicious cakes and pastries.
Not only that, some of the participants were also given a chance to try some of the tasks in baking such as folding the mixture and decorating the cake.
Here are the two products after the session: the Chocolate Truffle Cake and the Caramel Custard Cake which we were able to try and love instantly!
We were so glad to be given this chance to learn baking once again! Thanks to CIC! Thanks Chef Hasset! :)

Cagayan de Oro’s premier breadshop Missy Bon Bon has become a must-visit place for locals and tourists since its opening two years ago. Since then, It has become a haven for dessert and pastry lovers as they offer a wide variety of cakes, breads, and other delicious goodies. As one of the instructors in the CIC, Chef Hasset Go has a remarkable track record in terms of baking and pastry arts. He has been featured in many TV shows and magazines as the youngest pastry chef at the age of 18. He also experienced working in many restaurants all over the country and is seen as a celebrity chef.
At 25, he now owns MedChef in Manila and together with Ms. Maribel Pineda and Mr. Rey Sumania, contrived the concept of Dessert Strip in Cagayan de Oro City.
For 3 hours of learning from Chef Hasset Go, we are now inspired to bake our own delicious pastries. The finish products are just irresistible!
If you wish to learn baking and pastry arts, the Culinary Institute of Cagayan de Oro, the first of its kind in Northern Mindanao, is offering baking programs with reputable chefs as instructors. I’ve never been a fan of vegetable salads. One time, I just tried a dare and ordered Pinoy Caesar Salad at Honeybaked Cafe and Restaurant and yeah, I instantly love it!
I think I’ll be going back to Honeybaked more often and try out their other salads. :)

The Pinoy Caesar Salad I love.
It’s made up of cabbage, egg, chicharon, and other ingredients I could not identify. Oh, their “dip” is yummy!
Plus, the place got a nice and comfy ambience. A perfect place to savor a salad. hehehe. :)
Wifi is available. Plus points!
(Fettuccini Alfredo is also good. But I was not in the mood for Pasta that time.)
